I think the brother may have been depressed because after the breakup, the dance company was no longer supported (financially) by the Prince?

I dont understand... Didn't he say his brother was sad after the breakup?!?!?! Then why did the prince say the opposite??? There could have been a "better " and longer plot for this explaining that someone behind the scenes pulled some strings and purposefully separated them or something ╮(￣▽￣)╭ and the prince thinking it was all the brother's fault, that way the start and the end would make more sense to me (=・ω・=)
