In the novel, she’s completely clueless about his feelings lol. She just thinks all of his actions are just bc he cares for her since she was the only person by his side at his mothers funeral. She has no intentions of hurting him which was why she looked confused when the prince kept questioning if she wanted him to marry another woman. At this point he already loves the FL but it’s not to the point of obsession yet for her to want to run away from him.
