The mother tried her best. James was an unbelievable neglectful pigheaded selfish small minded asshole. Charlie was a brat. He was used to having his mothers attention solely on him everything she did for him she did at the expense of herself because that is what her mother is supposed to do. Maybe she spoiled him because she felt like she needed to make up for his neglectful piece of garbage father but that’s no excuse for this little boy to be so terrible. He’s a chip off the old block he’s just like his father. Tom is a dick. Point blank he’s a dick. How can you expect your soon to be fiancée to just dump her child on his father when I’m pretty sure Tom had been told that James was a piece of garbage abandoning dickhead. But at the same time I kind of get it. You have this beautiful younger woman that you’re in love with or lust with, you want to get married and then you made the worst child in existence. Spoiled, rude, loud and just all-around horrible. Still, it’s no excuse for Tom to be such an entitled asswipe. Although he got his happy ending and moved on with the secretary the new one and at least she didn’t have baggage. And I’m sure if she had a kid the kid wouldn’t be like that. The mother like I said tried her best. I can’t even say I dislike her. Sometimes I find her annoying, she has a big mouth and issues with anger but it’s one of those things where I think if you’re young, if you’re not a parent, or if you’ve never really had to deal with huge amount of sacrifice and hardship you might not get it. Her youth was taken from her by said evil horrible selfish abandoning small minded neglectful pig headaches husband. She married way too young, the sex meant true love, got pregnant and had to deal with his beautiful secretary making fun of her pregnant body and her husband who was horrible not defending her, I’m pretty sure that he cheated. I don’t care about the explanation it just seems a little bit too convenient. And even if that’s not the case which probably isn’t it doesn’t matter he didn’t defend her. He let her do everything he wouldn’t touch her he wouldn’t even hold the baby. Then he leaves. Why? Because he felt guilty from taking everything away from her? That’s crap. So her issues I understand. Everything she’s done she’s had to do with her kid and she had a sacrifice a lot. She’s working this decent job where she’s raising her kid working long hours and she still makes time to have a little bit of time for herself. I’m sure that it wasn’t like that in the beginning when he was too young. She has a system and this man who abandon this child Cubs and up and all of it and then calls her parenting into question. I would be a loud annoying tantrum having hyper ventilating mess too. So the female lead is not a bad character. She took them back which is the bad part. This in order for this story to of had a happy ending she should’ve told her ex-husband to take a hike. In a nice way, yeah I’ll be here for your kid I’m glad you’re getting along whatever but you and me? Go fuck yourself. That would’ve been a perfect ending. Her with an old man but realizing she doesn’t need one, her continuing to raise her traumatize child and realizing she can’t spoil him and keeping a healthy distance from said abandoning piece of garbage yada yada yada ex-husband.
