He was gonna do it sooner or later anyways,
But the only person he wanted to be with was MC (apart from his freedome) so if he rebelled after she went away it'd be not the same...so he hastened the process is all
I don’t know if its just me but the reveal that he really only took over the kingdom not for the freedom of his people but because he wanted to be with her was kind of a let down. I know it was meant to come off as romantic, but to me it was just disappointing, and kind of degraded his character to just a romantic lead. I thought it was interesting to see a character driven by his convictions and desire for freedom, but now he just feels like the typical male lead thats main motivation and purpose is the fl.
