Well... I guess it is in a way but it could also be seen as having to let go of something you love because it just isnt appropiate anymore. Or am I wrong?

Strange, I got the opposite feeling. I felt like the manga was saying :
"If society says what you love is inappropriate for your age you should stop. You should cave under social pressure from everyone around you to be 'normal' and if you aren't what people around you deem 'normal' then there is something wrong with you and you should feel deep shame."
Which I personally think is complete bullshit. Seriously, why should anyone care if someone is wearing Gothic Lolita clothing on there off time? It's there personal time and it's what they love. Why be so judgemental about it?
and as an added bonus; you have any idea what people think of us "manga reading and/or anime watching sort"? I can grantee you it's similar to what the people in this manga think about wearing Gothic Lolita outfits.
