i saw this again and wanted to reply again cos i’m confused? unless i’m remembering wrong there was close to no diversity besides one tan character and 5+ pale ones? not sure with what him being rich and a white collared dude has to do with anything but it’s in bad taste.

Evan's best friend is brown and Chris is tanned and has slitted eyes (two Asian characteristics that are conventionally unattractive). The rest are pale but I think the siblings are American-ish and Evan looks European. But in the end all of them could be Korean. I'm not sure if the characters live in America but I think it's more likely they live in Korea, where diversity in ethnicities is at its lowest.

As for Chris' ex, he is depicted as a rich dude that just has a trash character. If the choice of his skin color was coming out of a place of hate (and he is not necessarily an African-American or African, he could be Indian, Pakistani etc), I think there would be placed more impprtance to his skin color and his bad traits would be attributed to his origins. And I really don't think a racist artist would create the subject of their racism to be successful economically, be handsome and have the power to control people.

I'm really sorry that I have bombarded you with my words, but I have pondered a lot about the artists', choices, why there is underpresentation and when do artists try to be unconditional. I hope I have moved you a little because there are worse examples of underpresentation and actual racism...

don’t worry about the replies i don’t mind. i was never trying to accuse the artist of being a racist just found it a bit odd. i don’t think they had ill intent or meant any harm from it but just wanted to point it out and see if i was the only one who noticed
