Which character, that has gone for a long time, do you never want to see again?

I must be one of the few who does not want feilong to ever come back. Whenever I reread I tend to skip his scenes. Which character, that has gone for a long time, do you never want to see again?

Reading your conversation reminds me of the GoT Honest Trailer. Probably you've seen it (30 million views, lol), but seeing how the subject is about authors who wantonly kill of their characters, it's good for ... J Unleashed

I had not seen that - pretty funny...thanks J! although, unless they named the characters, I don't know who they are either - have not watched the show - at all.

Romeo and Juliet died too - and my favourite character from Steven King's The Stand, my fave from the movie Red Dawn ... list could go on and on - so - yeah, sensei can get rid of, or write out whoever she want... tokidoki

... and don't forget Iason and Riki in Ai no Kusabi. Their death was... well, perfect. And while I am writing this, JK Rowling comes to mind. :) She once described herself as a "killer with a keypad", lol.

Iason and Riki are Romeo and Juliet -
Ah, Dumbledore, Fred, Tonks, Remus, Snape ... and more

Quote: "Iason and Riki are Romeo and Juliet." Get out of my brain, Tokidoki! ^^ Seriously, that is the exact thing that I keep saying every time someone says that "the ending of ANK sucked" or that they should have had a happy end. In their end Iason and Riki become classic Shakespearean drama. That is one of the things that make this story such a standout. :)

Just remembered another one... Winter Cicada. That one destroyed me.

Yep, made me cry too. But it was actually quite beautiful in it's execution.

I don't buy that story abt. FeiLong being saved by over seas fans. Why? The way she drew him. no one puts that amt. and time to draw a charc. like that and kill him off. to much work down the drain. Look at the stalker killed , the no name guy shot by Asami . they were not exactly fashion plates. Poor Suoh (is he dead) sigh. She let Takaba beg Asami to stop shooting. besides who would Takaba have left to compare himself to and angst abt. if not for an alive FeiLong?

Tell that to the enormously popular George RR Martin, who kills off so many of his characters, yet people keep watching/reading the Game of Thrones series ... tokidoki

Even Joss Whedon, who was famous for killing off characters people like even before GRRM, saved Spike because Spike was such a fan favorite. Spike was originally slated to die at the end of season 3, I believe, but he stayed till the end of the series because fans loved him (and even Joss liked how the character developed). And since that type of story allows for it, Joss brought Spike back from the dead to be on Angel after Buffy was over. Sometimes a character just takes off and becomes more than what a writer originally intended. But all the fan complaints in the world never brought Tara back to life, which just goes to show you the "bury your queers" trope is stronger than a writer's desire to please fans (just ask the writers on The 100 about that).

    As for GRRM

Spoilerish for people who haven't read the books

    minor spoiler

Not everyone GRRM kills off stays dead exactly.

You just touched a soft spot in my heart talking about Winter Cicada. A really masterpiece in the yaoi world! They are my Romeo and Juliet in homosexual version!

Asami is supposed to be a badass mofo but which baddie has he actually managed to get rid off besides Yuri (who returned in a AU/non AU hot spring extra in the most casual manner possible and is still unknown whether its canon or not) and also not forgetting russian mobster #331 and Momohara Ai's stalker. The actual masterminds get off scot-free and just return later on to stir shit up again. At the end of this arc I truly hope to see a proper resolution aka a few baddies meeting their demise. Could be Sudou, Sakazaki, Mikhail, DEFINITELY Aaron and idk whoever, whatever. It would not be fun to see Sudou returning a few arcs later (if there are a few more arcs) at the end of some chapter like LOOK WHOS BACK - AKIHITO'S NO.1 ENEMY TBC IN THE DEC 2020 ISSUE.. yea.. please no.

Sorry but it comes from sensei herself, Q&A session. Unless you don't believe the actual author herself. As for keeping Fei alive for story purposes, that doesn't preclude her originally planning to kill him off. Not all writers have everything planned out that carefully in advance. Sometimes plot just happens and you work with what you have. And lets not forget that sensei has blundered in the past. The whole series starts off with an admitted major blunder that she has since had to work around. Invalid argument.

Same. I don't want to see his face anymore. It would be better if he is like one of those arc characters that just goes when their part is done.

    Anonymous2 April 8, 2016 8:43 pm

Personally, I think I wouldn't miss Sudou much if he disappeared after this arc, nor Sakazaki for that matter. But I was actually pretty happy to see Mikhail again, and I'd totally freak out if Feilong made a reappearance. *-*

Asami also killed Fei's biodad. Personally, I like to think it is part of Asami's aesthetic not to personally kill others unless they really piss him off. Death as a goto solution has a simple charm, but it is ultimately weak and inelegant if you look at the big picture. It leads to people wanting revenge and potential gang war if you kill the wrong person. All that crap is bad for business. Besides, trying to kill everyone who is bad would keep you busy 24/7. If you let you enemies or frenemies keep power you yourself cannot realistically try to claim and hold without giving up power in other areas, at least you know how the other operates. Better the devil you know.

    Anoni Grrl April 8, 2016 9:07 pm

Although Lady L has a point about each character serving a purpose, I personally would not miss Ai. That kind of plot device is a pet peeve of mine.
