You dont deserve to be downvoted. You are right that a more palatable word could have been used. However, as seen from the quality of the translation, we cant really expect much from it. They could have just translated it quite too literally or had the bad luck of not finding a better word.
I am not saying that this is okay nor am I not being grateful for this free translation. Let this one go and hopefully the translators/editors will know better and do better next time.
I'm one of those people with autism who has never given a single fuck when people use the r word. As long as you don't use it as an actual insult towards people with mental/physical disabilities and I'm cool with it.
And also, don't throw the word "albeist" around. Just because they downvoted your comment doesn't mean they have a prejudice or are showing discrimination against people with disabilities. They may just not agree with your take.
As someone else who is also on the spectrum--cool your jets. Words only have as much power as we give them. You take it personally regardless of usage, whereas I only take it personally when used as a pejorative. Everyone else also has varying degrees of tolerance, so don't just assume and lump all of us in with your personal viewpoints.
You know if the author wrote retard go write him/her and complain. Translators shouldn't censor stuff because of snowflakes like you. Imagine getting this triggered about a word , I wanna have your problems lol

I get you, but in this case I think it's okay. The person saying it is intending to hurt the girls by saying it. He wants to be offensive. He's an asshole, so he will use such a word
As someone who is autistic, the use of the word r*t*rd is awful and horrible.. why would you not swap it out for a different, non-offensive word? I’m probably going to drop this now :/ please know neurodivergent people are not comfortable with the use of this word.
