From their perspective, yes. Rather than bad, it's more like weird? They couldn't even fathom why would you, a guy, even read BL. If you face the reality that not all people are as accepting, then it's better to keep it a secret. There's no harm done.

I guess other people would say that your friends are scums for not accepting who you are. But well, if that's the only aspect of your friend you disagree with, then I'd still say he's a keeper. Just be aware that you are never bad for liking what you like. You have a community here who understand why exactly BL is gem.

it's normal in their eyes, so don't put blame too much on other, too.
You know, like.. something different which you do but the other didn't do is called strange / abnormal for them.
but this abnormal of yours is yours only and you have the right to liking it and live within it, it's just not all of them will accept you and open their arm widely for you because of that.

just think about someone whom survive eating snake-meat when you normally eat rice and chicken. isn't it abnormal? strange? sick? No nonono, just don't put yourself as the one who talk bad like that, keep your distance and get a life. that's all okay.
