that's what i have thought alot too. i guess it is a korean thing. i remember an arc in the manhwa "cheese in the trap" that the FL's brother got in a pyramid scheme as well and he was so ashamed he couldnt tell anyone although he was being abused. i guess it is a very embarrassing thing for them.
