And now about the story: When Nine was telling Melissa to not run because she could hurt herself he was being annoying and overprotective. But it's reasonable to not want someone to drink poison. Besides, her plan is not great. She has already realized that things have changed from the novel. There is no guarantee that she'll actually survive, even though she thinks otherwise. If the information they gather about the poison turns out to be wrong, she'll die. To be honest I kind of hope Nine will talk her out of it. That plan seems too risky to me.
