Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? :0 I was under the impression that the MC and crown prince weren’t in good terms in the first timeline. Or am I remembering it wrong lol.
I think the mc misunderstood the prince and her father at the beginning, i don't think either of them wanted to harm her, she jumped to conclusions too fast. She doesn't know he is the crown prince yet.
I've decided that MC is a super unreliable narrator about her 1st life. All she did was chase after what's-his-name's D. It's clear that her Dad loves her, so I'm assuming A LOT of shit in her last life was due to miscommunication, including her imprisonment and suicide. Like, she only ever heard rumors about the Prince.
The Crown Prince is allied with the Duke and VERY aware that the Duke treasures MC. He knows the Duke is overpowered and could help him overthrow the Emperor.
So I imagine that when MC kills herself in front of the Prince, he must have been SHOOK. Especially because it looks like his fault. What's gonna stop the Duke from killing EVERYONE in the palace now?
With all the political shenanigans the last few chapters, I think the night she died probably went like this:
- The poisoning was a plot by the Emperor to target the Duke's only weakness, MC
- The Duke knew this and sent her to the dungeon to keep her safe from the Emperor while he dealt with the investigation (or maybe he finally had enough and was gonna overthrow the Emperor as the Prince wants?)
- The Crown Prince was sent down to question her b/c the Emperor thinks he and the Duke are enemies. BUT the Prince is his student, so he was actually going to help her.
- She kills herself before he even says anything
- Duke kills the royal family
agreed, because I'm sure everyone saw the shock in his eyes when she stabbed herself.... that was too foolish of her ヽ(`Д´)ﾉ
You have to imagine it from her perspective too. She was literally raised without her father, practically abandoned as they dont see each other often. And from their interactions in her memories, the father always had a cold look in his face and he literally chased her out when she was a child. Whenever she would ask for him, he was never there.
No matter how much we love the fl father now that we know he actually loves his daughter, he could have at least shown to her with his actions. No wonder she thought he hated her, THERE WAS NO COMMUNICATION OR GESTURE TO PROVE WHATSOEVER.
In the first chapter when he was dragging her to the dungeon, he didnt have to be so rough, even if it was really the plot from that musty king. He could have at least explained it to her when she gave her that knife. Or he could have shown signs, ANY SIGNS to let her know he is on her side.
As for the prince, yes she only heard rumours about him. But howd you think she felt when no one believed her, even her own father, that she didnt poison anyone. She probably thought the crown prince is the same, especially because it was a family of that crown prince.
Honestly, I do not blame her at all. 100% Because she actually TRIED to get along with her father, yet he was the one who was cold to her in her past life. No matter how much you want to protect your child, it does not condone you to act indifferent towards her. We only see now that he is showing affection. Why has he never done that in their past life?
I do agree with her being an unreliable narrator, considering the amount of misunderstandings she has . I reread the chapters again to see the first timeline, and I agree with your points.
The night of the poisoning I think that her father placed her in the shadow room because it’s magically protected, so she wouldn’t be assassinated before he is able to prove her innocence. He probably gave her a knife just in case someone was able to break in the room. When she heard the prince talking he was saying how she shouldn’t worry because she wouldn’t die, but she most likely misunderstood this into him implying that he’s going to torture her lol.

Ok, so her father didn't want to kill her and max actually came to rescue her since they knew who poisoned the princess.
She got sent to a torture room where she couldn't use magic, and the knife her father gave her was to counter that (magical knife that annulates the rooms effect) .
He always loved his daughter so much, but the emperor was watching him to know his weakness, so he had to act cold towards her to protect her.
After she killed herself, her father went into despair and killed the emperor and one day he went crying to a magical stone that made your wishes come true, but you have to pay a price, bringing his daughter back in exchange for his life, and that's how she got reborn, and somehow her father was also back. But they don't know if he also remembers or not.
