...this is so darn annoying and confusing but it's manga like this that makes me want to comment on it and look back on it to give it a bit of sense, at least...
...so here's how i see it... the manga itself was all bits and pieces of izumi and kazushi's life, albeit not in the usual straight forward way of storytelling...think suzumiya haruhi (or kara no kyoukai) yaoi manga style...
...here's the chronological way of reading it, or at least how i would look at it...
*chapter 9 - meeting of kazushi and izumi... from here you can get a glimpse of izumi's "carefree" way of living
*chapter 3 - izumi meets kazushi again, confirming his feelings for him and this is the start of izumi chasing after kazushi (even moving in next door to him - see chapter 1)
*chapter 1 - izumi and kazushi gets together
*chapter 2 - kazushi witness izumi and yashiro but misunderstands the relationship between them...
*chapter 5 - an attempt at being fluffy side of izumi and kazushi. based on izumi's hair and clothes, this would be before he disappeared
*chapter 4 - izumi and kazushi's first (?) fight. this is the part when kazushi is made aware of izumi's life when it comes to his frivolous relationships. but this is also the part when kazushi realizes even though izumi doesn't act it, he actually thinks of kazushi
*chapter 6-7 - this is the turning point of their relationship. based on the sketches of the artist, i guess it's safe to say that they've known each other since izumi was younger. the artist and izumi probably got into an accident, hence the scar. i can only assume, but this where you can make a guess at a dark past of izumi. this could be which made him the way he is when it comes with relationships and being unable to get serious. it's just unfortunate that the mangaka didn't expand on this but it gives us (readers) a freedom to think of different scenarios
chapter 8 - izumi and kazushi starts living together but izumi works at a different location. yashiro sees for the first time how they are together
*chapter 10 - yashiro visits their house. here you can see how izumi is still in doubt of his relationship with kazushi. but he still wants them to stay together
