I'm not sure where they are by that time since their conversation ended with having a children and something else. I suppose their soul drifted somewhere else in the future after the war. Just maybe.

The ending is really sad and it hurts me a lot. I'm not fluent in Chinese raw but it shows that the couple passed away during the war.
