I know many of u don't like tess, but still calm down. It's not like i like her, but I also don't dislike her I'm just someone on the neutral side. So yah let's talk about tess and her reaction. Everyone please think of it and view things out in tess pov and not the reader's pov. Think of it if you as a 12 yrs old gurl falls in love for the very first time and has been feel that way for quite awhile since childhood. And the person u've fallen for was the very first person who save u from loneliness and criticizing mean adults while giving u the chance to view the world in another bright way. And to top it all up she would NEVER EVER in the most unimaginative world of fate would the thought that the very person she love would actually be someone who's way much older than her. So yah think of it. And the very reason why she took the very chance to kiss art was because she know art that much, she know that if she won't do the first move things won't progress between them. Since she know art she would have thought that maybe he would at least take that seriously(her feelings) even if he won't reciprocate her feelings cause yah know art was always the mature one between them. But alas she thought wrong. So please everyone just calm down tess is only 12 yrs old who wants to have a progress in their relationship in some ways... She's helplessly inlove, ok.
