licita's magical ability allows her to drain both life and mana. so assuming she really did take the mana out of asta, she could've also killed him. that's pretty much enough reason to give him away

I was wrong sorry. I now understand that it wasn't just mana she took away and it make sense why she gave Asts up.
So I don't understand why Asta's mom left Asta at the orphange? If it was about her power taking his mana, wouldn't she already know that he has none. Giving her a reason not to give her son to an orphanage and raise him instead.
