The experiment made by Zimbardo? I'm starting to get curious about this story. In general I avoid the stories set in a high school (with few exceptions)... but this looks interesting

Lady L, this is darker than what I've seen you mention reading, but I like it. It's isn't your average high school yoai. It's a combination of Rashomon, the Breakfast Club and explicit and twisted smut. It's not romantic, but there are relationships and not just porn.

I started interesting at it because the person above mentioned the experiment at the Stanford prison ( Zimbardo). It was a good experiment of social psychology, I studied some of those experiments for an exam at the university. Probably is pretty twisted and disturbing. Do you like Lynch' s movies?

I like some David Lynch. I think that Blue Velvet may have some of the same twisted psychology as Caste Heaven, but Blue Velvet is more surreal and Caste Heaven has none of the film noir qualities you usually admire.

PS I agree with Kiss about how Caste Heaven illustrates principles from the Zimbardo Standford Prison experiment. Additionally, I think the second couple illustrates some learned helplessness and one turn on the cycle of abuse (stopping at a happy resolution stage). Chapter 8 and other points may also echo some of Milgram's work. I think it's one of those stories where if you have taken a psychology class, you see it (but if someone has not, they just enjoy the story).

I prefer Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire ( the part with the anthropomorphic rabbits is really weird) than Blue Velvet. I like surreal things so much. :)

beware though,it is extremely twisted and sadistic, it is a perfect depiction of the stanford experiment and the Milgram experiment. The author herself refused to continue the manga since she started feeling bad and I would say,even disgusted. So read to your own consequences XDXDXD Caste Heaven is much more pleasant to read.

Question didn't the people who did the experiment have to get help after it was done. and 2) Is this the shock experiment you are refering to.

By today's ethical standards, neither Milgrim nor Zimbardo could repeat those experiments. (Yes, Milgram was the one where someone in a lab coat told participants to shock a confederate who pretended to be in pain and who said he had a bad heart). Both people who were abused in the Stanford experiments and participants who found out they could go along with abuse and even start abusing when prodded had issues after the experiments (not every participant, but enough to make it a problem). No one really wants to find out that kind of thing about themselves.

There are so many fascinating things that I found in this manga: good plot- it remembers me somehow "A clockwork orange" (film and novel), "Carrie"by B. de Palma, the identification with the aggressor (psychodynamic and psychoanalytic definition), behaviorism (learned behavior),social studies and experiments... and last but not least something related with one of the mangas that I loved the most in my life- "Oniisama", a yuri-shoujo story set in an exclusive high school for girls where you can find almost everything: bullying, drugs addiction, suicidal impulses, health problems, incestuous desires, and so on.
