Re-reading chapter 31.1 makes me think how scary it is being isolated in a ship where everyone is suddenly dying and you don't know what the fuck is going on.

Unfortunately most of us (even me) know the fear but unlike us the black blagues was 10× scarier (I'm not trying to belittle other peoples experiences though.)

I'm just trying to think about the scenario.

You're doing your job, stacking cargo in the ship as usual, you notice your co-worker (=CW) has a terrible cough and looks like the dead, you think nothing of it and continue working. It's time to sail and by then it's already night so you eat and head off to sleep. The next day the crew notice that not only is CW dead but others are showing the same symptoms. The next day a crew of 200 (estimation) dwindles down to 180+ then 150+ no one knows what it is and no one can run you're 2 weeks away from any ports and people keep dying by the day.
