my theory is that they were either friends or close classmates back in middle school (based on the flashbacks) and maybe the seme fell in love with the uke (or both liked each other)? but this got spread around, either by the uke or other classmates (i think its the latter). and the seme probably confronted the uke OR the uke avoided him like the plague and repressed those memories (cuz god knows how traumatizing it is to be outed in front of the whole school). though from the way the seme is acting it seems he's holding a grudge??? honestly idk just basing this off of other bl i've read before
