From what I've seen, only nobles give that kind of greeting to a woman. To them it could just mean thank you. Which is quite normal in other manga with nobility. How are you going to protect yourself from a sudden and very unexpected action?
If we were talking casually and I suddenly slapped you (for no reason), if we were standing in front of each other, it would likely hit since my hands are already moving in front of me while I talk. Plus, she puts herself down quite a bit, so she doesn't expect anyone to come on to her.
Damn, she'll just let anybody touch her.
