His mother didn't die but his brother is in the hospital.
Sohoo and his brother were in the car and then crashed when his brother tried to avoid hitting a (ghost) girl. Btw, he saw the ghost cause he accidentally touched Sohoo which makes it possible for Sohoo to share his ability. Taker only managed to save Sohoo, so only the brother was injured. They're now at home trying to get some rest and Taker sees how Sohoo's condition only gets worse.
