Okay so

Okay so I might be overthinking this, but I still stand by my earlier opinion. I just reread the chapter and there was two red flags to me. He blushed when he came to the realization that there might be something heavier than he can imagine on her shoulders and saw that she was about to cry. Even if it was just him thinking the vulnerable side of her is cute compared to her swordsmanship side (which that is what’s going on I think), that’s personally still a red flag for me because the blushes only began after he noticed thus side of vulnerability?

It kind of reminds me of those kind of people who like people with baggage to try and pick them up from the ground, which inherently at its core doesn’t have anything too wrong with it, the problem is these kind of relationships can quickly become toxic (not that I know from personal experience).

The second ref flag from me was his choice of words in including the term “child”. This is most definitely just me being overly sensitive, but the fact that he used that word specifically feels patronizing? It kind of feels like he wants to take care of her and help her as if she is a child, but then he had the full on blush, which to me personally just felt mildly pedo. Again, I am stretching, I acknowledge that, but that’s what led to me feeling ew at this chapter. ( ̄∇ ̄")

And in retort to the person who said that we all read toxic comics already that are much worse than this but we ignore that and nitpick on this, two things. The first, most stories that we read with toxic relationships, we read knowing it’s toxic. This story was supposed to not be toxic (judging by the description and cover) so I am allowing myself to be nitpicky. Second, if toxicity ever gets too bad, I jump ship, especially if it isn’t glossed over and never addressed again. In some cases tho the author makes the toxic relationship a plot point and later fixes it to show a healthy relationship. I eat up those stories I’ll admit.

I will continue to read this story and will most likely eventually forget this, but if for whatever reason I continue to see red flags I will not continue reading. I would like to thank the scanlations group for this chapter and for posting this story here. I like it so far, I just like to criticize things it’s like a hobby of mine. For the people who read up to this point, mad respect, and thank you for coming to my TedTalk. ヾ(☆▽☆)

With respect to your third paragraph, I agree. The fact that he used the term "child" and blushed was odd/creepy. Personally, I'm attracted to people who are okay with showing vulnerability. Not because I like to fix people with baggage, but you get a glimpse as to who they really are. It's a sign of trust and respect. ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

You’re definitely overthinking. It’s not that deep.

I think showing vulnerability as like a person and being okay with showing it is a great personality trait, one that I think is required in a healthy relationship. But that’s like after you know the person? Like he barely knows her, he really doesn’t know her but the first thing that made her attractive immediately to him was her vulnerability and that makes me feel oofy. And it wasn’t the kind of vulnerability where she was purposefully opening up to him either, so that’s also why I don’t like it in this instance? And yeah the child thing was super weird and mildly creepy

Glad I'm not the only one who found the "child" thing creepy lmao. As for the first paragraph, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt because he might just like her duality.

I like to think that duality attracts us to people. For example, someone who looks terrifying but enjoys baking and gardening. Someone who is very professional and "no nonsense" at work but who is silly and chill off work. Someone who seems shy with no presence but who actually is an amazing performer.

It adds layers to people and makes them more interesting. Anyways sorry for being long winded lol
