I know I shouldn't only concentrate on this one fault that I have with the manga (well except for the fact that this manga only has 16 FUCKING chapters!!! It's too short!!!). I don't know why but I really really REALLY didn't like the introduction of the snake guy from the same team as the MC. He just seem like an asshole (maybe he is) and I don't like assholes. It's normal for sports manga to have these kind of rivalry at the beginning of the story. It's there either to make the MC stand out or to introduce the members of the team or to present the future comradeship of the MC and the rival/asshole however you may call it (like Haikyuu with Hinata and Kageyama). But I really didn't like this one. Something about him I really didn't like at the beginning. Maybe because he destroyed a window, maybe because the wanted to black-mail the MC (fortunately the MC is intelligent and shameless enough), maybe because I didn't like his inner monologue with a snake (which was obviously used to differentiate him with his former asshole self because we know we can't hate the future-comrade of the MC ) or his creepy smile. Which by the way I have to ask: what's with the creepy smiles? Why do every rival, the MC of every sports manga has to face, have to have a creepy smile whenever they are introduced to the story? Why?
We know we are going to have at least some sympathy towards them the moment they are going to lose against the protagonist of a sports manga. It happens every time. Often times they are only in high-school why do the mangaka feel the need to make them creepy or seem like an asshole (which they often are but I just don't like my first impression of these kids to be so).
Well this is just a rant. I've seen this so often but this one kind of made me explode and it irritates me.
