Did he put on his pants while wet? Or did he shower whith them on... No that is not possible since they are dry... But if he put on his pants while still wet he would 1) have a hard time putting them on, and 2) the water would seep through the fabric macing the pants wet again. Did he dry off the lover part and then stopped to put on the pants?
