I love this so far, it's so realistic in the sense of how dark I imagine those times to be, you can see it in how opressed Anette lives, any mistake John might make would have been Anettes fault, rather all the males here trample over her and it's her fault, so everyone saying she is weak seems pretty dumb to me, she is an actual victim of years of abuse, unlike other stories set in this time where the female leads suddenly grow genius brain??? Lmao so unrealistic the second time they get to live they are so OP.....and an insane plot armor out of absolutly nowhere, we see Anette trying to save the one thing that she loves, John, in the only way she knows how in this male opressing time, and sadly her protection comes with no power, since from birth, she has none.
This is a read that should not be for everyone, it's obviously for people who can handle darker themes, but it's so far, a masterpiece, from narration, to characters and setting. So thrilling.
