I think it's more so because she was basically the mother figure for Tita, so if they were to end up together it's just... scandalous and a bit disturbing tbh.
Y'all are fine with having a thousand year old vampire or werewolf like a girl whom he met during her younger years but not by a 400 year old witch marrying a guy in the same circumstances? Are y'all okay?
(Not saying I approve this though but yooo, may I remind you that she is not a HUMAN but a WITCH. It's just like any other Interspecie relationship)
