This is a pretty good example of people not communicating well. One too impulsive and the other holding back too much. It's not easy to overcome habits you've learned over a lifetime. Still aggravating as hell to read through. A partner being upset is just a legitimate while the other wants to out of kindness. Compromise and communication you two!
