It’s perfectly legal to marry at the age 16 (for girls) and 18 (for boys) in Japan. The same as in my country. There are still a lot of people in my hometown who married at that age or right after they graduated from high school as well. So for me I don’t see it as strange. My grandma also married when she was 16. My baby cousin also already married when she was 17. But personally, if it were my children, I won’t allow them to marry that young. There are just too many possibilities for negative consequences in the marriage or in raising kids. Mostly, people who succeed when married at young age, it’s because they have total support from the extended families that help them financially and/or in raising kids.

the reason why many of you think people younger than 18 absolutely shouldnt be in relationship with older people is because of the way you were socialised and educated

Like i do dislike relationship btw minors and older people and i do think its reakly extreme in japan like a 13 yo is still dumb asf but at the end of the day its their life and if none of them are doing anything illegal and anything thats harming them emotionnaly and physically who am i to critize their relationship

This isnt justifiying pedophilia or anything its just not overly meddling into people s life when they are happy and not harming themself nor doing anything illegal
