As a general store of thumb, rabbits shouldn't get wet since it can be dangerous. Like OP said, they're prone to hyperthermia and it can be difficult to tell if their fur is fully dry

I've come across this before too (lol, I have weird nights on Google) BUT how would you "wash" or clean your rabbit? Maybe I'm ignorant or plain stupid but even if an animal is shedding naturally and grooming themselves, aren't they still at risk to hygiene or matted fur related problems? Ahaha, I'm truly curious. I've never had a pet before.
They like put them in a dust bath I think?? Look up chinchilla dust baths on YouTube. So cuteee
Rabbits are generally good with grooming themselves like cats, which is why its important to brush their fur regularly since ingesting large quantities of their fur can cause a blockage in their guts. But sometimes when rabbits age and/or develop health problems they may have difficulty with grooming, in that case your vet should instruct you on how to clean them safely.
I haven't seen any other comments here mention this so I'm just gonna put this out here. PLEASE DO NOT bathe your rabbit unless instructed by your vet, it can be very harmful as they have natural oils in their fur that will be stripped away with the soap and water. They also can get very stressed out which could lead to them freaking out and injuring themselves. Their fur is very thick so if they are not dried properly they are at risk of hypothermia which can be fatal.
