Eijah is the reincarnation of Nico. Nico and Cecilia were in love but Cecilia died (kind of a suicide) (and both of them + Arthur are orphans). After, Nico and Arthur rift apart so yeah Nico didn't really have love (as well as Arthur)

MAJOR NOVEL SPOILER

So, in Arthurs past life as Grey, he grew up in an orphanage with Nico and Cecilia. They grew up to become fighters, people exploited Cecilia against her will due to some power and so she used a final fight against Grey/Arthur to finally get to die since the people exploiting her wouldnt let her kill herself.
Cecilia died by Greys hands while Nico watched from the sides, Grey found out she used him to finally die but Nico didnt.

Grey reincarnates as Arthur, lives his life, meet Elijah and becomes friends. Things happen and Nico reincarnates as Elijah and seeks revenge.
He ends up using some power to use Tessias body to bring Cecilia back since he didnt know she actually wanted to die. Still waiting for development on that part. The stuff that happens after though, makes this look like a cringy side story. ヾ(☆▽☆)

Nico had a major crush on Cecilia and thats why hes so full of rage after seeing Grey kill her.

Thank you for the spoilers, now I understand why lots of comments saying about foreshadowing...did Elijah somehow remember his past? Or not 'yet'?
