It really creeps me out how much people focus on being the "first" for someone, especially with "ukes" and women, they always want them to be virgins who've never even heard of sex....its so weird
And with the age gap thing I've seen sooooo many books which have a last extra of a flashback showing the older one meeting their current partner as a toddler with this weird "they were meant to be" vibe....like wtf is so romantic and sexy about knowing or liking your partner since they were in diapers while you're still the adult....?
I’m not gonna lie
When I was reading what u said I was kinda confused but now reading it over and u explaining again what u mean here I agree with u 1000 percent . I thought I was the only one who thought it was weird how authors normalize this and also rape. Every yaoi I read they somehow always have the uke to be forced raped and instead of the uke running away or like hating the seme they make him fall in love with them which to me is weird.
But I think however the seme in here did grief over the lost of his wife
It's so. Fucking. Weird. When they make ukes apologize. For. Being. Raped.
They'll either go no it was my fault for not handing you the ketchup so it's totally valid that you got mad and raped me
Or they'll go oh no I cheated on my boyfriend because I got raped....
Like they literally make it their fault for being raped like wtf??????
I read this book yesterday and the uke was literally asleep when this guy assaulted him and then they just made the rest of the plot about how he cheated on his boyfriend.... (And gave the assaulter a spin off cuz why tf not...)
I Litteraly drop stories like that. before when i was still kinda knew i would put up with the uke being rape and suffering because of it. I found it so disgusting and niw i dont anymore. I do remeber some stories where the uke was raped and it was a genuine story about his trauma and how it was not his fault and trying to love and trust again. The only story with rape in it i would read is a story when the uke is actually recognized has a victime and tries to get better (the rapist better nit be the seme tho because ima throw punches at people romanticizing rape)
Yeah it's so messed up how normalized this shit is in fiction, and it's so hard to avoid it too, I too try my best to avoid those kinds of stories like the plague but when you see entire comments talking about how wholesome something is, no tags no warnings, read and have a great time then boom, chapter 50 with rape.....this is why we can't have nice things... It almost just feels like a check box for authors at this point...
ikr but i feel like niw people do point out rape mire easily and try to speak out this is why when i wanna start a book or webtoon i always check the comments yes some people may say that im judging the book with others opinion and not doing an opinion by myself but when more then half the comments talk about a crazy seme who rapes the uke, is a jerk and never gets a randemtion arc you well damn know im not gonna read that
With omegaverse its just a given it'll be filled with rape but even in other stories it's like they just have to include a scene where either the uke is assaulted by someone else so the same gets mad at them for "cheating" and then raping them again immediately after or just in general meme mad about something random rapes uke or half the stories just starting with two strangers meeting seme raping uke and boom fairytale ending... It just makes one feel so hopeless about the state of the world and mindsets people have tho it also makes me appreciate actually good stories or even just non offensive stories more but it makes me upset that the entire genre's reputation then ends up being books like those...
this is why im so happy when i find and omegaverse story that doesnt have all that bullshit but like the bar is really low like give conscent and not rape and still depends on the story but im on board. The cheating thing when the uke is raped is just bullshit and i feel like the author needed some kimd of drama because THIS. IS. NOT. OK. I feel like people now that dont read bl all think its always that. I remeber me and my friends were talking about bls we liked and the guys were like Why do you like reading stories about guys being raped and having wolf things. I would never support a story were the seme rapes the uke never.

I hate when authors kill off wives (like relatives or close friends, is still understandable and ironically they actually show more grief and healing processes in those books, a lot of the times the adoptive parent is also canonically gay so again makes so much more sense to do it that way) just so they can have a baby in the book and then the MC has zero reaction or grief and is immediately not only in love with someone else but it's "oh no I think I've *always* been in love with xx" (this trope is also annoying in general (and incredibly creepy with age gap books like sure you're dating now when you're 30 and they're 45 but then there'll be an extra where the 18yo sees a random 3yo and goes "hot"...disgusting) like if it wasn't your first love, your first kiss, first fuck, first everything it's not "true love"...) that's honestly so gross....like that was your damn wife? Someone you claimed to love so much that you not only married them but had children with, planned to spend your entire lives together but the second they die you're just completely over it and forget they existed never to be mentioned again? Even a bad divorce would make so much more sense than this. Babies don't happen in a day?? You must've spent at least a couple of years with them throughout dating, marriage, pregnancy then raising the kid to however old they were before she dies, how do you feel nothing for a human being you lived so long with? No one is saying they can't move on and date someone new but how you gonna date someone else when their body isn't even in the grave yet.... Even if you didn't love them that's still your partner, the mother of your child that's dead now, feel literally anything and longer for five seconds please... And it's not like these stories ever take the stance of "oh I hated that bitch so glad she's dead, we just had a one night stand and then she dropped a kid off my doorstep" (this character would make a great single father huh...) it's always a happy marriage with a wholesome loving man, till she dies then boom she never even existed....(honestly don't understand how the authors expect us to believe this is a wholesome loving man if they can drop their feelings on a dime but sure)
Women aren't just baby factories... Stop using them as either tools to have babies in stories or even villians... Give bl women personalities 2k21
