I beg to differ. Noel only hated Leticia because she believed the rumors about Leticia, but Noel was never mean or abusive towards her. And Ahwin, despite being under the fake-saintess' control, never abused her beyond the commands either. And while he had no trouble obeying the commands, he never displayed any joy from it and even found ways to help Leticia somewhat like giving her salve for her wounds. Very different from directly finding joy in abusing her like this psychopath.

The mother's control/influence probably amplifies what evil that already exists. Because if they were decent to begin with, the most they'd become is like Ahwin.
