just bcs he had a traumatic past does not excuse what he did to her. i dont care if he’s different in his present life, he is still the person he was back then, if the empress hadnt change, he would probably still treat her like crap. it could have been a decent story if they dont try to justify his rape, the miscarriage, the disrespect, abuse or murdering her and her father with him being on drugs or that he envied the empress. i rlly want to appreciate the author that tried hard to make this but this story is so shitty. they constantly try to justify his actions (in a very shitty way too) and made her traumas seems so insignificant. i cant believe the traumas and abuse she’ve faced for probably 20+ years just disappeared bcs her abuser starts to treat her a little better. if anything it seems like stockholm syndrome.
