    Have ya read 'Soul Catcher(s)'?
    How about 'Seshiji O Pin!'?
Then there's also 'Hikaru no Go'...(a personal favorite of mine.)
And I guess 'Kuro no Tantei' also cuts the bill...maybe.

    To add on:
    - Seishun x Kikanjuu
    - Yumeiro Patissiere
    - Akatsuki no Yona
    - Donten ni Warau
    - Spiral: Theory no Kizuna
    - Ansatsu Kyoshitsu
    - Ao no Exorcist
    - and of course, 'D.Gray-man' (Another personal favorite. Allen might seem strong in the beginning, but trust me, he was weak as hell. His first few opponents were just too fodder.)
Hunter x Hunter (IDK. It just depends on how you look at Gon.)
    - Kamisama no Iutoori (and its sequel 'Kamisama no Iutoori Ni' The sequel has a different protagonist, but follows the same story and is connected to the first half more towards the end.)
    - Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu and Tokyo Ghoul (tho they're more action packed, but whateva)
    - Nurarihyon no Mago
    - Over Drive
    - Tiger & Bunny
    - Shaman King
    - Zombie-Loan
    - Soul Eater
    - Yakitate!! Japan
    - The Law of Ueki
    - and last, but not least, 'Magi' (another fav.)

    Have fun~
