So its safe to assume that they dont die that easily (the very strong ones that is)

I think this is what happened…
The earth where MC from is part of the real Tower, and MC belong to that world.
Meanwhile, all these climbers are from many different worlds/dimensions.
The climbers strength inside the Real Tower is different than their power in their own world.
If climbers dies inside the towers, they lose their climber qualification and sent back to their own world. But if they die in their own world, they die for real.
Meanwhile, MC who is belong to the Real Tower, if he die inside the Real Tower (the earth he was from), MC will die for real.
But if MC die in a different worlds/dimension that is not part of the RealTower, MC will be resurrected right away.

...that makes a lot of sense, in a weird way
