I have read a few of the titles by this author, and based on the fact that most of them include some kind of abusive ex, I am beginning to think that the author or someone close to her has personal experience with abusive relationships.

But the guy in this one is, by far the most poorly written one. The fact that he was not abusive before she left him, then suddenly became obsessive and stalker-ish and abusive to the point that he was about to beat her in public, then threatened to simply sue her for $2,000,000, refusing to be deterred by legal actions, but then to be deterred by the idea of being tossed in the ocean? He was way too all over the place and not a good antagonist at all.

The other issue I had was with the timeline. She was complaining about only knowing Alessandro for a few weeks, but then, in the space of ONE YEAR, she had managed to meet, MOVE IN WITH for "several months" BEFORE getting engaged to and planning a wedding with (something that would have also taking more than a few months), James. That would imply that they moved in together almost immediately. And yet he never paid rent in all that time. WOW. She really got snowballed.

I hope the actual book went into much more detail and the story in the book was not this haphazard. Still though, I admit that at least the ML and FL were not toxic and were pretty decent people.
