Right?! He's on edge all the time because of his contracted spirit plus the rumors around him and the fact that he seems to spend more time on the battlefield and killing people. When we get caught offguard, we tend to react in ways that would protect us from the 'threat'. So I do understand why he reacted like that.
I sure hope he clears that up with the MC though since even if she can see emotions or like understand them, she still deserve a proper explanation and not just an apology and then expecting it to be better.
