I feel like they went back to him because aside from missing him they missed each other just as much. Look at how the girls are acting with each other at the end. They’re a lot more chummy with each other now. I’d say in the end they finally achieved a hare-kon where they all love each other. A little jealously is natural but Madoka seems to be handling it so much better now. And Yuzu’s kid-it might not even be his but he accepts him just as much as his own. It’s not the usual family and certainly not a story for monogamous romantics but it’s undeniable that they’re all happy in the end. I admit it I wanted a Ryu-Koharu end but a reread and I’m pretty satisfied with this. They’re happy, they’re healthy, all accepting each other-it’s just nice. Now if only that guy Yuzu was with joined them. :V
