Believe it or not this is pretty common is every kingdom, most kings aren’t aware of what’s happening in their palace, i haven’t read much into European monarchs but in Arabs country this often happened in the harems and the sultan would know little about what’s happening.
I don't don't know much about European except my country (France) king is more of a title they take the decisions but aren't the one making the ideas. Their role is more to build the image for the nobility like living their best life enjoying the banquet when their people are working for them ^^'
What does the emperor do? Like what is his job? How isn't he able to protect his empress from an assassination? Why don't he know qhats going on in his own home to people who are directly related to him...
