500 years from suicide. That's why book named like that too. It's not 1000. First sleep 250 years and second 250 too. His love story is 500 years old. He left professor's place to search Hikaru after second sleep (250 year his separation with Android one and 500 years from real one) and he just collapsed in dessert not being frozen again or something. Hikaru woke him up second day, so it's impossible 1000 years. Basically u were right.
