I just wanted to put it out there that this is actually a spinoff of a novel series about Hanafurirou's different courtesans' love stories.
In Iwasaki's story, he once saw Kagerou and Kichou in an airport, by then, Kagerou had his hair cut, and had become a very independent/capable man, also, he and Kichou was still very much in love with each other.
A little side story about their time back in Hanafurirou: Back when Kagerou was still extremely reluctant to take any customer, Takamura found him a nice, rich, handsome customer. Kagerou was actually able to accept him and even tolerate his time with this customer, but this unnerved Kichou immensely, he was jealous of this customer for spending so much time with Kagerou, and he was also afraid that Kagerou would eventually fall for the customer, so Kichou seduced the customer, and had sex with him, which was found out by Kagerou, Kagerou was really angered and hurt by what Kichou did to him, he felt betrayed. In the end, the customer was forbidden to patron Hanafurirou, because it was against Hanafurirou's rule for the customers to "cheat" with other courtesans. Shortly after, Kagerou accidently discovered a cook and a courtesan's plan to elope. Kagerou envied their relationship a lot, at the same time, he was extremely lonely and sad about his broken friendship/relationship with Kichou, he wished he and Kichou were still close, so, out of his own misery and empathy, Kagerou helped the couple elope, but the couple was caught, which further saddened Kagerou. The failure of the couple also shook Kichou as well, because it confirmed Kichou that his pathetic wish of eloping with Kagerou would never work.
The novel elaborated Kichou's and Kagerou's mental status really well, it was truly heartbreaking to read.

Thanks for this summary! It's good to know that Kagerou was able to rebuild his life. He's still so fragile at the end of the manga and it worried me!

It's normal that he's fragile, I think Kichou was the few exceptions that weren't.
    Anyways, you're welcome :)
