Yea but that's the only lead they had he's the crown Prince he could've gotten a spy team to tail him or to gather evidence even when he's caught maetel said that he's inferior even amongst the royals so he could've done SOMETHING you know instead of just letting it escalate to the point that it did and him murdering innocent people. But like at least he's caught red handed now I guess

I think there's also the issue with the fact that Duke Wayton's a part of the royal family. I mean, there's a possibility that they'll just twist facts and give him a punishment that isn't very satisfying. So even if Maetel manages to point out that Duke Wayton's the real 'rope-man', he doesn't have enough evidence and Duke Wayton could just be protected by his status as a member of the Royal Family.

In other words, the fact that his most recent victim is Louis (the commander of the second knights) and he got caught right in the act plays a part as to why he's getting properly punished rn.
