There's small hints that Mikorin and Mayu were intended to be a couple at one point. Originally Mayu was supposed to be a girl but mangaka figured that since Mikorin will have a hard time getting along with a Jr girl, it would be an impossible ship. Cus the two would have no reason to interact consistently. So mayu got turned into a boy. Hence why the 2 has a lot of chapters focused together and ongoing gags based on both.
i didn't finish this one yet, but i want to know if mikorin is going to end with someone, please tell me, i need to know if my boy is going to have a girl (︶︿︶)
