I feel you on this. It honestly feels like there's parts missing here and there, not big chunks but enough to seem as if there is missing jumps in logic. So, as far as I've been able to follow... the hawk king(seme) loves his bride(male/uke...she is a mistranslation) so much that his base instincts are acting up and making him want to devour uke ( think maybe along the lines of omegaverse alphas wanting to bite their fated mate). I didn't see/read anywhere that seme had eaten someone/a loved one before, but it seems commonplace for larger birds to eat the smaller, so maybe his instincts are being affected by that as well? Although, it was mentioned that this was a symptom seme had experienced before, it never really stated the reason why, or that it was because he'd already eaten someone before.
I only read the one line that had anything to do with uke changing form, but it was hard to understand as well. IDK if it was a bad translation or what. what really stumped me was a the talk of migration...? I guess in this it means sex, but maybe its more along the lines of consummating the marriage? maybe its special sex that WILL change the uke somehow? But honestly, I just moved along hoping it will be better explained further on.
As for the assassination attempt, not really a whole lot has been explained about it yet, but it seemed more of an attempt to get rid of uke than anything else ( never picked up on some other kingdom, but the was a strange name mentioned. maybe some organization that's at odds with the king's faction?), and the most suspect is the old guy who talked to the king as he was carrying uke after uke passed out after having his first orgasm...which leads us into...
the maids. From what I understood, its some sort of tradition for the maid to prep the bride on the First Night, but she's not allowed to bring the bride to orgasm, since that had to be done by the king. But, this was only supposed to be a one time thing. Uke's first maid kept it up though, for over a month, never letting uke finish. Her reasons for doing so haven't been explained yet though, and who knows if they will be? Maybe because the king had yet to actually consummate the marriage fully? Maybe because she was (in some fucked up unexplained way) looking down on uke? But, in the chapter where they are switching out the maids, the new maids say that the old maids liked the uke? Another thing I ran with hoping for explanations later on.
Not really explaining anything here, as there's so much that was lost to me as well, but I hope this will help clarify things a bit.
