In eastern languages like Korean and Chinese, they have an idiom ‘blackened’ which means ‘turned evil’, if you read Chinese novel you’ll see it very often.
But of course, in my opinion, translator need to take into consideration the culture of the language and avoid literal translation, because in English that word sounds offensive. They should’ve used words like ‘villainous’ ‘wicked’ or simply ‘I tamed the slave who turned evil’ or something like that.
