I don't care if this is a merciful act rather than something crueler. It doesn't change that they neglected and abandoned their daughter. No, not their daughter considering they disinherited her.

Its not the worst situation, but for a father to visit only once a month is beyond cruel. She is from a modern worl. What happened to her modern sensibilities? Leave and make aname for yourself, make them all regret leaving a newborn baby. As stated, they could have done much worse, so i wouldn't necessarily make the duke family an enemy, but since you mean nothing to them make it so once you have power they mean nothing to you.
