Not a valid punishment.

I've seen alot of comments about people being glad that this happened and that all the villagers deserved what happened to them. Maybe I'm just weird but I disagree. I'm am not saying how they treated him by any means was okay. It was cruel and they do deserved to be punished for it.

However, I don't think this was the answer. There must have been people who were less guilty or not guilty at all. Children, elderly, and some people just going about their daily lives.

The dragon may not have intended for this to happen. But it still did. People disappeared because of his actions. This was probably very traumatic for him. As well as many lives were lost.

Still! This was very good writing and story telling. It definitely made me think!

Even though I agree with you,you must not forget that Hyo un himself is a child too. He said that without thinking and it happened. He still felt so guilty even though it wasn't his fault and even tried to end his own life.
I think those villagers, each and every one of them were the same. It was better that they left like that painlessly. They would have died from famine anyways. Also even the kids that are innocent, unfortunately they would either die from the concequences of their parents actions, die from famine,be sacrificed at some point like Hyo-un,or become insufferable adults like their parents and continue the cycle.. At the end of the day that lack of compassion and ignorance would have granted them death either way.

he made a wish out of desperation (still believing he was human) for the people that have caused him nothing but pain for his whole existence, to disappear.. i think he had every right to think/feel that.. he didnt kno that his wish would come tru but even if he did kno.. there may have been some villagers there that didnt agree with it or were hesitant, but they all knew what was going to happen to him and not one tried ro help him, which makes them bystanders and thats still not any better..

Yep exactly my point. Even the two who carried him there that were from a neighboring village voiced how fukced up that action they were doing was and still went on with it....They literally did it for money? And those people, how in the actual shit would they manage to stay alive being that evil and ignorant. Even their kids wouldn't have a better life and would end up like them

This goes on to say that the actions of adults of society always effect the entire society as a whole. No matter what the young ones do,if the adults who lead the society do not take right actions, the entirety of the region and lives involved will face the consequences. Agree that maybe children and others who weren't involved didn't deserve it but this holds true for the real society. This incident in the story is a mirror of our own. They fucked around and found out. As simple as that. It makes you realise that if you are deliberately hurting and inflicting pain on others, not only you but all the others connected to you will face the consequences. As simple as that

They deserved to die and I hope they burn in hell. Even the people who did nothing. Because standing by and allowing something to happen without trying to help makes them just as guilty.

Oh, I guess what I said made it seem like I was blaming him for what happened. He's a powerful being, as well as child. Even adults make decisions they regret. I do agree that it was highly likely that the children would grow and make similar choices, however I don't think it's fair to just assume that.

Even if they would have died off from something else, each person deserves to fight for their lives, they could leave, or choose to stay.

These are all just my opinions, it was great to hear yours! Thanks!

From what I said it made it seem like I was blaming him for what happened. Which isn't the case. I do agree he had every right to think the way he did. He went through something no one should have to go through. I was only trying too address everyone disappearing

Being a bystander isn't much better, but it's hard and scary to go up against a whole village. Fear does crazy things.

Thanks for getting back to me! I enjoyed hearing your thoughts.

I wouldn't quite say its simple, which is why I instigated the discussion. I just have a different way of thinking I guess! I just don't everyone should be blamed for something they may not have been guilty of. The individuals who participated should definitely be punished.

It was interesting to hear your opinion. Thanks for replying!

Fear would be a huge part. This happens with bullying as well. I'm not saying being a bystander is okay, but they don't deserve the same punishment the bully would receive. Definitely not death. This is just my opinion though. It was interesting to hear yours. Thanks for responding!
