I think it's because a causal-effect kind of thing. She probably would be able to make it, but it would not do her anything because she will be consuming the life force that she already extract of herself to make the painting. Now... if she give the cure to another art disease affected person, it would work for them because it would be made with "new" life energy.
This is only a theory of my, because it would fit the theme and ambiance of the novel.
this is a good theory!! but i just think that even though it takes her 'whole life' to make it, once the ml males her drink the potion it'd be like resetting her life span again... idk that sounds silly i just wish there's like an alternative ending to it
I think it's countereffective. By the time she makes a painting of her cure, half of her life force will be lost, so she dies but then the medicine is already made.
