Thoughts...

I discovered this manga because of the drama. I really really love the series but the manga has a different charm to it.

Some differences:

1. Shiki's power is a lot more powerful here than in the drama. Plus more useful as well since he can hear the voice of the dead within the crime scene. His eyes differentiate between murderer/killer/someone who has killed before with people who kills on legal duty with the difference in colour of the fog but in the series, he can only see black fog. Plus he doesn't hear any voice.

2. The sequence of the cases. Between the manga and the drama, I like the sequence of the drama more. It makes more sense to me (but maybe because of the storytelling itself). Like for example, the three brothers case, since Shiki comes from prestigious family (used to), it makes sense that he has some knowledge/ties with them albeit an acquaintance.
Even the case with Ikoma, in the drama since her murder happens way later, we can see more interactions of her and Shiki. Plus, during the case, Amakusa has lives longer at Shiki's house and they have some kind of bond already, so when it happens, Shiki quickly called Amakusa and Amakusa abandoned everything to come to his side.
Oh, plus for the first case of the idol murder, the reasoning Amakusa give out is way more believable? I guess

3. The characters' personality. I guess the biggest different for me is Amakusa character. How do I say it... In the drama, he's a lot more proper. He's still a boaster but he's a very proper man. He's more like Kambe Daisuke, a wealthy detective. In the manga, he's very cheery and of course very boastful. Plus, he behaves very childishly, and it gives out a different kind of charm to it. Of course, I love the proper and boastful Amakusa but I love the manga version cheery and childish him as well.

4. Characters. The drama gives more scene to the behind the scenes character like Ikoma and Ryuzaki. (Oh, she doesn't behave starstruck like she did in the manga when she saw Shiki for the first time). She's a very capable person, a serious one at that has to deal with her self serving partner.

Anyway, I love them both very much. Both in manga and the dramas.

I just notice. I'm glad if it makes you feel that way. So how was it? Did you watched it already? Do you like it?

IFor me, I like the first season more than the second one. Because the second one is really frustrating me.
