Duke loves him. During the "confession" scene when MC checked Duke's feelings for him, the Duke's words were manipulated by the gamemasters to get MC to stop playing the game. For MC, he thought the Duke rejected his confession and for the Duke, he thought MC played with his feelings--so there's resentment left right now. Duke is different in the novel though, he doesn't rape MC.

So there's this thing with the towers where players musr conquer it which "unlocks" a final boss(will be revealed later). So before MC and Duke had a fallout, it was said that MC was WAYYYYY ahead of all the players on the tower floors after the Duke and his Vassals changed races. So while that's cool and all for the MC that he can get the achievement for clearong the tower first, not so much for the other players in the opinion of the gamemasters cus they want ALL the players to basically clear the tower at the same time and fight the final boss together(when they get sucked into the game). MC alone wouldn't be able to take on the final boss himself so the gamemasters schemed to have MC and Duke have a fallout to stall their progress, though it didn't help much cus the other players stayed stuck on their progress. Later on the series, MC will figure out a way on how to help the other players climb the tower effectively
